Filipino Community in Ottawa Hosts Independence Gala & Dinner

10 June 2022, Ottawa - The Philippine Embassy in Canada joined the Filipino community in Ottawa for the annual Philippine Independence Day Gala on Friday, 10 June 2022. The highly awaited celebration saw Filipino and Canadian guests showing off their formal Filipiniana while being regaled by musical and dance performances over dinner.
Organized by the Philippine Independence Committee of the Ottawa Valley (PICOV), an association of Filipino community organizations in Ottawa, the celebration had Philippine Ambassador to Canada Rodolfo D. Robles as guest speaker.
Ambassador Robles encouraged the community to continue commemorating and celebrating Philippine independence and pass on their heritage to the next generation.

The Embassy’s consular section in Ottawa will be open on the following date for our monthly Saturday consular service:

We will provide passport services only (application and renewal).
All applicants will need to book for an appointment through the following link until Thursday, 16 June 2022:

Applicants should ensure that they bring with them complete requirements when they arrive at the Embassy for their transaction, and photocopies of the required documents. There are no photocopying facilities inside the Embassy.

Please note that, due to existing COVID-19 restrictions in Ontario on physical distancing and the size of the Embassy’s consular space, walk-in clients cannot be accommodated. The wearing of face coverings/masks shall be also required of all applicants inside the building.

PH Embassy Launches Sentro Rizal Ottawa Portal

13 June 2022, Ottawa - The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa launched the Sentro Rizal Ottawa Online Portal on 12 June 2022. The portal is a platform that aims to connect people, especially Overseas Filipinos, to cultural, historical, media, and other related resources about the Philippines.
The online portal links relevant websites and social media platforms of partner agencies such as the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, Cultural Center of the Philippines, National Historical Institute, relevant museums in the Philippines, National Library of the Philippines, National Historical Commission of the Philippines, and Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino, among others.
Philippine Flag Hoisted on Parliament Hill

09 June 2022, Ottawa - The Philippine Flag was once again unfurled and hoisted on Parliament Hill to celebrate the 124th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence and Filipino Heritage Month in Canada. It will be recalled that this yearly celebration has been put on hold for two years in view of the COVID-19 pandemic and its related health protocols and restrictions.
Undeterred by inclement weather, Ambassador Rodolfo D. Robles and other Embassy staff, members of the Canada-Philippines Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group spearheaded by Members of Parliament Kevin Lamoureux and Rechie Valdez, and members of the Filipino community in Canada gathered at the parade grounds of the House of Commons to hoist the Philippine and Canadian flags and sing the National Anthems of both countries.
Ministers Ahmed Hussein (Housing, Diversion and Inclusion), Sean Fraser (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship), Senators Larry Patterson, Yona Martin, and other Members of Parliament were present during the celebration.
