Ambassador Robles Explores Further Educational Cooperation with University of Alberta

20 June 2022, Ottawa. Ambassador Rodolfo D. Robles met with University of Alberta’s (UoA’s) President Bill Flanagan and Vice-Provost and Associate Vice President (International) Cen Huang to further explore potential educational cooperation between UoA and its counterparts in the Philippines.
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) sends Filipino scholars to the UoA to pursue Masters and Ph.D. degrees through the Graduate Scholarship Program (GSP), an arrangement between DOST and UoA which was signed on 22 March 2019.
There are currently five Filipino scholars enrolled under this program, with six additional scholars expected to join the program in the coming term.

20 June 2022, Ottawa. Ambassador Rodolfo D. Robles met with the Filipino community leaders in Edmonton to solicit information on how the Embassy and Philippine Consulate General in Calgary could be of further service to them.
Ambassador Robles likewise presented the status of the Credentials Recognition in Canada (CRC) Project which he initiated in March, 2021. Ambassador Robles and Consul General Zaldy Patron answered questions that mostly centered on the CRC Project and consular matters.
Approximately 64,000 Filipino-Canadians are living and working in Edmonton.
161st Birth Anniversary of Rizal Celebrated in Ottawa

The Embassy of the Philippines in Ottawa co-organized with the Knights of Rizal, Gatineau Chapter, a celebration of the 161st birth anniversary of Philippine National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal at Sentro Rizal Ottawa.
The event was attended likewise by members of Ottawa-based Philippine Heritage Foundation Canada (PHFC) and the Maharlika, Mandaragat, and Magtanggol Chapters of the Knights of Rizal in Montreal.
Representatives from the Filipino youth in Ottawa read a letter and a poem of Rizal while PHFC sang an original Rizal Hymn as part of the celebration.
Filipinos in Eastern Canada Take Oath as Dual Citizens on Independence Day Month

20 JUNE 2022 – Fifty Filipinos from different provinces in Eastern Canada took their oath of allegiance to retain/reacquire their Philippine Citizenship under R.A. No. 9225 at the Mindanao Hall of the Philippine Embassy in Canada on 18 June 2022. The oath taking ceremony was conducted by the Philippine Embassy during its Saturday service to commemorate the 124th Anniversary of Philippine Independence.
