NOTICE OF REGISTRATION AND ELECTION
TO ALL FILIPINO CITIZENS
Under Republic Act No. 9189 as amended by Republic Act No. 10590, all citizens of the Philippines or dual Filipino-Canadian citizens (having reacquired or retained their Philippine citizenship under Republic Act No. 9225, otherwise known as the 'Citizenship Retention and Reacquisition Act of 2003′), who are not disqualified by law, at least 18 years of age by 12 May 2025 may register as an Overseas Voter and vote for the National Elections. The overseas voting period will start on 13 April 2025 until 12 May 2025.[1]
Period of Filing of Applications: Applications for Registration/Certification, transfer of registration records, change of name due to marriage or court order/correction of entries in the Voter's Registration Record, reactivation, and change of address may be filed from 9 December 2022 to 30 September 2024, at the start of office/opening hours of the Post. Said services are also offered during Post’s consular outreach missions outside of Ottawa.
Requirements for Filing of Applications - Every applicant shall accomplish OVF 1 (Annex "A") and submit the following:
- Valid Philippine passport to establish applicant's identity;
- In the absence of a valid passport, a Certification of the Post (Annex "B") that it has reviewed the appropriate documents submitted by the applicant (such as Report of Birth), and found them sufficient to warrant the issuance of a passport, or that the applicant is a holder of a valid passport but is unable to produce the same for a valid reason; and
- In case of applicants who availed themselves of R.A. No. 9225: the original or certified true copy of the Order of Approval of their application to retain or reacquire their Filipino citizenship issued by Post or their Identification Certificates issued by the Posts or the Bureau of Immigration; or
- In case of seafarers, a photocopy of their Seafarer's Identification Record Book (Seafarer's Book) or any other pertinent document.
