15 June 2023, Ottawa – The Philippine Embassy’s Minister and Deputy Head of Mission Myca Magnolia Fischer witnessed the virtual signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Philippines’ Department of Science and Technology and Universities Canada on Science, Technology and Innovation. Universities Canada, a national organization, represents 96 Canadian universities and colleges.
Signed by DOST Secretary Renato U. Solidum, Jr., and Universities Canada President Paul Davidson, the MOU aims to advance STI cooperation through graduate and post-graduate scholarship programs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), joint research and development initiatives and other forms of scientific collaboration between Filipino and Canadian scientists, researchers, engineers, and students in the fields of health and life sciences; science and technology education and human resources development; environment, agriculture, and energy; advanced manufacturing; artificial intelligence; space technology and applications; and entrepreneurship.

25 June 2023 – Philippine Ambassador to Canada Maria Andrelita S. Austria joined a wreath-laying ceremony at the National War Memorial organized by Veterans Affairs Canada to pay tribute to those who served, fought, and died during the Korean War. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Korean War armistice.
In a moving ceremony, government officials, parliamentarians, and representatives of the youth sector recalled the sacrifices of those who fought in the war, and vowed never to forget their contribution to the cause of peace and freedom.
Philippine Embassy Attends Flavours of the Philippines by Executive Chef David Vinoya

22 June 2023, Ottawa – The Philippine Embassy in Canada, represented by Administrative Officer Maria Teresa Narbuada and Cultural Officer Jasmin Pajalla, attended Flavours of the Philippines, an Independence Day dinner hosted by Hilton Garden Inn’s Executive Chef David Vinoya, on 12 June 2023. This was the first Philippine-themed event of Chef Vinoya.
Chef Vinoya showcased his creativeness and artistry in a 7-course tasting menu with wine pairing by the hotel resident sommelier Richard Uequhart. This event brought much-loved traditional Filipino dishes such as lechon manok, paella negra, kare-kare, bistek, sinigang sa miso, seafood ginataan, and halo-halo to new heights in fine dining experience.
The event was also attended by renowned chefs, influencers, food vloggers and critics, and other people in the hospitality industry. END
