Philippine Ambassador Austria Meets with Universities Canada in Preparation for Delegation Trip to the Philippines

25 October 2023, Ottawa - Philippine Ambassador to Canada Maria Andrelita S. Austria attended a breakfast meeting hosted by Universities Canada at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier to discuss its upcoming mission to the Philippines on 6-8 November 2023.
Universities Canada Interim President and CEO Philip Landon welcomed Ambassador Austria and shared that the mission to the Philippines seeks to enhance the mutual understanding of the Canadian and Philippines higher education landscape to set the stage for long-term collaboration, and highlight the significant opportunity to advance global partnerships and foster opportunities for education and research collaboration between Canada and the Philippines. Universities Canada represents 97 universities across Canada. At least 16 university presidents and representatives will join the delegation to the Philippines.

We are pleased to announce that the consular outreach in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador will be conducted by the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa on the following dates:
Date: Saturday, 25 November 2023, 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.
Sunday, 26 November 2023, 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.
The consular team will provide passport services, notarization/legalization, and overseas registration services during the outreach mission.

Embassy Kids Participate in Online Art Workshop in Celebration of Museum and Galleries Month 2023

23 October 2023 - In celebration of the Museum and Galleries Month 2023, the children of staff of the Philippine Embassy in Canada participated in a replay of the online art workshop with Professor Ali Estrella, an illustrator of Filipino children’s novels and a master clay artist. The kids unleashed their artistic side while listening to Professor Ali, as they made their own clay characters through the cultural kits provided by the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Office of Public and Cultural Diplomacy (DFA OPCD-CDD).
The online art workshop was a part of the panel discussion entitled, “Laro, Sining, at Imahinasyon: An Interactive Learn and Play Experience hosted by the DFA OPCD-CDD in partnership with Museo Pambata Foundation Inc. It was live-streamed from the Philippines via the DFA Facebook Page on Thursday, 19 October 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Philippine Time. END

Philippine Honorary Consul in Halifax Consuelo Lacson Honored by Nova Scotia Premier and Legislative Assembly

The Embassy of the Philippines in Canada congratulates Philippine Honorary Consul Consuelo “Connie” Lacson on the recognition from Premier Timothy Houston and the House of Assembly of the Province of Nova Scotia honoring her outstanding leadership and public service, for representing the Filipino community and breaking barriers for women of Filipino heritage in Nova Scotia, and creating links between the Philippines and Nova Scotia.
Resolution No. 701 was tabled by the 64th General Assembly of the Province of Nova Scotia on 13 October 2023.
In her congratulatory letter to Consul Lacson, Philippine Ambassador to Canada Maria Andrelita S. Austria expressed her commitment to “continuing working with you in further strengthening the relations between the Philippines and Nova Scotia, delivering more effective and efficient consular services to our kababayan, and in uplifting the general welfare of Filipinos in Nova Scotia.”
