The Embassy of the Philippines in Canada congratulates Philippine Honorary Consul Consuelo “Connie” Lacson on the recognition from Premier Timothy Houston and the House of Assembly of the Province of Nova Scotia honoring her outstanding leadership and public service, for representing the Filipino community and breaking barriers for women of Filipino heritage in Nova Scotia, and creating links between the Philippines and Nova Scotia.
Resolution No. 701 was tabled by the 64th General Assembly of the Province of Nova Scotia on 13 October 2023.
In her congratulatory letter to Consul Lacson, Philippine Ambassador to Canada Maria Andrelita S. Austria expressed her commitment to “continuing working with you in further strengthening the relations between the Philippines and Nova Scotia, delivering more effective and efficient consular services to our kababayan, and in uplifting the general welfare of Filipinos in Nova Scotia.”

11 October 2023 - Visiting Philippine Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations and ASEAN Affairs Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro met with Mr. Stephen de Boer Foreign and Defence Policy Advisor to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and exchanged views on regional and international developments such as the situation in the South China Sea and the ongoing conflict in Israel and Palestine.
They also discussed the positive trajectory in Philippines-Canada relations and the follow-up actions to the recent meeting between President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. and Prime Minister Trudeau. END

13 October 2023, Ottawa - Philippine Officials, led by Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations and ASEAN Affairs Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro, met with Canada’s Chief Trade Negotiator, Bruce Christie, Canada's first new Indo-Pacific Trade Representative, Paul Thoppil, and Canadian Ambassador to the Philippines, David Hartman, to discuss bilateral trade and investment and how Philippines and Canada can work towards increasing both.
The Philippines and Canada have explored a bilateral free trade agreement and are currently working on a free trade agreement under the ASEAN economic pillar.
