19 December 2023, Ottawa- Pepito Escanlar’s painting, “Maligayang Pasko” (Merry Christmas), is the featured artwork in the 2023 Christmas card of the Embassy of the Philippines in Canada. Escanlar is the Philippine Honorary Consul in Regina, Saskatchewan.
The artwork depicts the unique Philippine Christmas tradition in celebrating the festive occasion with family, friends, and the neighborhood.
The Christmas cards will be sent to a diverse group of individuals, including government officials and diplomatic missions. END
Philippine Embassy Supports Family on Three Academy’s Basketball Clinic and Tournaments to Commemorate World Basketball Day

18 December 2023 - Philippine Ambassador to Canada Maria Andrelita S. Austria announced the Embassy’s support for the basketball clinic and tournaments to be organized in 2024 by Ottawa-based and Filipino-led organization Family on Three (FO3) Academy. FO3 Academy aims to promote a competitive and inspiring basketball culture in Ottawa as a basketball training center for both youth and adults.

18 December 2023 - The Philippine Embassy in Canada, led by Ambassador Maria Andrelita S. Austria, sponsored and participated in the 2nd day of Simbang Gabi (Christmas Novena Mass) on Saturday, 16 December, at the Assumption Parish Church in Ottawa. Rev. Fr. Joseph Vayalil, led the faithful in the celebration of the Mass.
In Philippine Christmas tradition, Simbang Gabi is a novena of pre-dawn masses during the nine days leading to Christmas Day.

15 December 2023 - The Honorable Marco Mendicino, Member of Parliament representing the riding of Eglinton—Lawrence in the House of Commons, met with Philippine Ambassador Maria Andrelita S. Austria on 13 December 2023 at the Chancery of the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa. Having recently assumed the chairmanship of the Canada-Philippines Parliamentary Friendship Group (CPPFG), MP Mendicino expressed his support for the growth of Philippines-Canada relations, especially in the aspect of people-to-people exchanges and trade ties. Ambassador Austria commended MP Mendicino for the notable work he did as Minister of Immigration, especially during the peak of the pandemic. She said that the Embassy is looking forward to working closely with CPPFG, including in the conduct of the National Philippine Parliamentary Internship Program and next year’s celebration of the 75th anniversary of Philippines-Canada relations.
