MP Michael Kram gifts Ambassador Austria with special products from his province
20 September 2023 – Member of Parliament Michael Kram, who represents the riding of Regina-Wascana in Saskatchewan, visited the Embassy of the Philippines in Ottawa and met with Philippine Ambassador Maria Andrelita S. Austria. During the meeting, they discussed the situation and concerns of the over 40,000 Filipinos and Filipino Canadians in the province, including employment, credentials recognition, and business opportunities. They noted the similarity in values between the peoples of the two countries, making it easier for Filipnos to integrate into Canadian society. They also talked about mutually-beneficial cooperation in the areas of trade and agriculture. END

PHILIPPINE EMBASSY AND PEI’S DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE LOOK TO EXPAND COOPERATION

19 September 2023, Ottawa - The Philippine Embassy called on PEI’s Deputy Premier and concurrent Minister of Agriculture Bloyce Thompson on 18 September 2023. The Philippine Embassy’s Deputy Head of Mission Myca Magnolia M. Fischer highlighted the importance the Philippines has placed on agriculture and food security. Minister Thompson noted previous cooperation between the Philippines and PEI on potatoes which had seen success in improving the yields of Filipino potato farmers. Both sides agreed to look into expanding this cooperation to other high value crops, as well as looking into possible cooperation in bovine genetics.

19 September 2023, Ottawa - The Philippine Embassy’s Deputy Head of Mission Myca Magnolia M. Fischer called on Lieutenant Governor Antoinette Perry at her official residence in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Ms. Fischer noted the growing number of Filipinos in PEI and their many contributions to the economic development and cultural vibrancy of the island. Lieutenant Governor Perry shared the many policy matters they had to work on in favor of PEI’s migrant communities which have sharply risen in the last decade.
