Philippine Embassy in Canada Holds the First Filipino International Students Convention in Ottawa

5 September 2023, Ottawa – The Philippine Embassy in Canada, in partnership with Philippine Centre Canada (PCC), organized the first Filipino International Students Convention in Ottawa on 2 September 2023 at the Embassy’s Mindanao Hall. The convention aimed to facilitate the integration into Ottawa of newly-arrived Filipino students in the city. PCC is a not-for-profit, member-based organization whose mission is to serve the Filipino-Canadian community through programs and services that address their needs and support their aspirations to integrate in and contribute to an inclusive, secure and prosperous Canada.
The whole-day event featured presentations by representatives from different school support services, settlement and integration services, as well as a briefing by Consul General Rea Oreta on Philippine consular and labor services. More than 70 Filipino International Students attended the event.
Suspension of the 2023 Revised IACAT Guidelines

The Bureau of Immigration has announced the suspension of the implementation of the 2023 Revised IACAT Guidelines for an unspecified period. Please monitor the lifting of the suspension for future travels and plan in advance for the need of additional documentation such as the Affidavit of Support and Guarantee (AOSG).
The 2015 IACAT Guidelines are still in place, under which the Philippine Bureau of Immigration may require the presentation of additional documents, including the AOSG, during the secondary inspection.

Manila Comes to Town Filipino Food Truck Festival and Winter Escapade 8 Launch in Montreal

The Philippine Embassy in Canada invites the public to “Manila Comes to Town” and the “Launch of Winter Escapade 8” on 23 September 2023 in Montreal!
Manila Comes to Town (MCT) is a joint food truck festival organized by the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa and Philippine Consulates General in Calgary, Toronto, and Vancouver for August and September 2023. Numerous food vendors will gather and offer authentic and delectable Filipino dishes.
To be held simultaneously with MCT is the launch of Winter Escapade 8. Winter Escapade is a flagship tourism program of the Philippine Embassy and Consulates in Canada in partnership with the Department of Tourism, featuring a 10-day tour in the Philippines in February 2024. It is designed for our kababayans and foreign tourists from Canada to experience and revisit the unique richness of our history and culture, as well as the incomparable beauty and charm of the Philippines.
