Besides the Philippines, diplomatic missions of Czech Republic, Guatemala, Guyana, Indonesia, Mexico, Qatar, Slovakia, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, and Pakistan participated in the event, with the special participation by the United Nations Association in Canada.

Silent and live auctions of items from around the world, as well as cultural performances were also presented during the event. The Philippines was represented by the members of the Philippine Dance Troupe of Ottawa (PDTO) who performed the  Philippines’ traditional dances of maglalatik, sayaw sa payong, subli, and binasuan. Other performers presented traditional dances of Indonesia and Mexico.

The event provided guests the opportunity to experience an evening to enjoy authentic dishes and beverages created by talented chefs from around the world in the spirit of friendly competition, cultural diversity and inclusion, while giving back to the community.

The Y Embassy Chef Showcase is an inaugural fundraising event of the YMCA. The proceeds will continue to support YMCA’s programs and services for the immigrant and refugee community in the National Capital Region. END
