Ambassador-Designate U Haw Khan Sum of Myanmar to Canada called on Ambassador Rodolfo D. Robles earlier today at the Chancery of the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa. During the call, they discussed opportunities for expanding and galvanizing ASEAN-Canada relations as well as the importance of upholding the ASEAN Centrality.
Ambassador Robles received Ambassador-Designate Sum in his capacity as the incumbent Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Ottawa which is comprised of seven resident ASEAN diplomatic missions in Ottawa, namely: Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam.
Ambassador Robles Holds Virtual Call With MP Salma Zahid

21 December 2020, Ottawa – Philippine Ambassador to Canada Rodolfo D. Robles met with Member of Parliament Salma Zahid on Monday, 21 December 2020. Ambassador Robles thanked MP Zahid for her initiative to declare June as Filipino Heritage Month through Motion-155. He noted that this motion, which was unanimously passed by Parliament in October 2018, honored the many Filipinos who have contributed to Canadian society for decades.
MP Zahid welcomed the Ambassador and offered her continued support in the work of the Philippine Embassy to strengthen bilateral relations between the Philippines and Canada and assist Filipino workers in the country. END.

The Embassy’s consular section in Ottawa will be open on the following date for our monthly Saturday consular service:
Saturday, 9 January 2021, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
We will provide the following services:
- Passport application and renewal
- Consular notarization/authentication of documents (legalization)
- Civil registration (Report of Marriage/Birth)
- NBI Form No. 5 fingerprinting and consular notarization
All applicants for consular services will need to book for an appointment through the following link beginning Monday, 28 December 2020, at 12:00 noon (Ottawa time):

Applicants should ensure that they bring with them complete requirements when they arrive at the Embassy for their transaction, especially photocopies of required documents. There are no photocopying facilities inside the Embassy.
Please note that, due to existing COVID-19 restrictions in Ontario on physical distancing and the size of the Embassy’s consular space, walk-in clients cannot be accommodated. The wearing of face coverings/masks shall be also required of all applicants inside the building.

First ASEAN Committee Meeting in Ottawa Held Under Philippine Chairmanship

The Heads of Mission of ASEAN resident missions in Ottawa gather for their regular meeting using a videoconferencing format.
Philippine Ambassador Rodolfo D. Robles chaired the fist ASEAN Committee Ottawa meeting under his chairmanship, with the attendance of all seven ASEAN Heads of Mission in Ottawa. The meeting was informed of the proposed schedule of activities under the Philippine chairmanship.
Ambassador Pg. Kamal Bashah Pg. Ahmad presented Brunei’s plans to host the ASEAN Summit next year with the theme: “We Can, We Prepare, We Prosper.”
The ACO is comprised of seven resident ASEAN diplomatic missions in Ottawa, namely: Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam.
