Ambassador-Designate U Haw Khan Sum of Myanmar to Canada called on Ambassador Rodolfo D. Robles earlier today at the Chancery of the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa. During the call, they discussed opportunities for expanding and galvanizing ASEAN-Canada relations as well as the importance of upholding the ASEAN Centrality.
Ambassador Robles received Ambassador-Designate Sum in his capacity as the incumbent Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Ottawa which is comprised of seven resident ASEAN diplomatic missions in Ottawa, namely: Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam.

The Heads of Mission of ASEAN resident missions in Ottawa gather for their regular meeting using a videoconferencing format.
Philippine Ambassador Rodolfo D. Robles chaired the fist ASEAN Committee Ottawa meeting under his chairmanship, with the attendance of all seven ASEAN Heads of Mission in Ottawa. The meeting was informed of the proposed schedule of activities under the Philippine chairmanship.
Ambassador Pg. Kamal Bashah Pg. Ahmad presented Brunei’s plans to host the ASEAN Summit next year with the theme: “We Can, We Prepare, We Prosper.”
The ACO is comprised of seven resident ASEAN diplomatic missions in Ottawa, namely: Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam.

The Gender and Development Section of the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa organized a Women’s Legal Education Workshop on 09 December 2020 to promote the empowerment of women as part of the Embassy’s observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence against Women covering the period from 25 November to 12 December 2020.
