PR 1 2022 Philippine Embassy in Canada Observes Rizal Day

29 December 2021, Ottawa – The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa commemorated the 125th anniversary of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal in a simple ceremony on 29 December 2021 at Sentro Rizal Ottawa led by Amb. Rodolfo D. Robles.

“We are aware of Rizal’s accomplishments, not least of them his novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, the spark that ignited the flames of Filipino nationalism and the Philippine Revolution that created our country,” Philippine Ambassador to Canada Rodolfo D. Robles remarked during the ceremony. “Rizal inspires us to live a life of learning and doing to make a positive change in our community.”

In compliance with public health restrictions, the event was attended only by personnel of the Philippine Embassy, some of whom are members of the Gatineau Chapter of the Knights of Rizal.

Philippine Embassy In Ottawa Stands up to End Violence Against Women

PR 201 2021 18 Day Campaign 2021

The Embassy of the Philippines Canada joined Filipinos around the world in the observance of the Philippines’ 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women. This movement which takes place from 25 November to 12 December advocates for the protection of women from all forms of violence and the creation of safe spaces for them in all areas of society.

To raise awareness on this important endeavor, Philippine Embassy personnel wore orange shirts and black face masks bearing the official logo “VAW-Free Community Begins with Me” during the Saturday Consular Service in Ottawa held on 4 December 2021 and the Consular Outreach Mission in Montreal held from 4 to 5 December 2021.
