5 MAY 2023, Ottawa – Philippine Ambassador Maria Andrelita S. Austria formally presented her Letter of Credence to Governor General Mary Simon of Canada in a stately ceremony held at the Rideau Hall in the afternoon of 28 March 2023.
Ambassador Austria also handed over to Governor General Simon the letter of recall of her predecessor, Ambassador Rodolfo D. Robles.
During the courtesy call, Ambassador Austria expressed appreciation to Governor General Simon for the warm welcome and reaffirmed the strength and vitality of the bilateral relationship between Philippines and Canada.
Ambassador Austria also conveyed that she looks forward to working with the Government of Canada to jointly address both countries’ shared interests and to contribute to the continued flourishing of Philippines-Canada partnership, as well as the promotion of the interests of 1 million strong and vibrant members of the Filipino diaspora that regards Canada as its second home.
Philippine Ambassador Meets Philippine Centre Canada

2 May 2023- The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa, led by Ambassador Maria Andrelita S. Austria, met with the Board of the Philippine Centre Canada (PCC) to discuss activities and initiatives for Filipino migrants, workers, and students in Canada. The PCC Board was led by Chairperson Lota Bertulfo.
Ambassador Austria expressed support for the objectives and programs of the PCC, including their most recent activity celebrating Filipino-Canadian women on 26 March 2023.
Ambassador Austria and Chairperson Bertulfo also discussed initiatives to address the various challenges faced by Filipino migrants, including credentials recognition. Based on Canada’s 2021 census, there are 16,105 Filipinos in the Ottawa-Gatineau area, a 27% increase from the 2016 census. - END

The Embassy of the Philippines in Canada joins the nation in celebration of the 2023 National Heritage Month. This year’s theme, “Heritage: Change and Continuity”, highlights the dynamic nature of heritage as a field that continuously innovates so it can achieve its objective of preserving products of human creativity.
Promulgated under Presidential Proclamation No. 439, S. 2003, National Heritage Month (NHM) is annually celebrated during the month of May, led by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. It aims to create among the Filipino people a consciousness, respect, and love for the legacies of the nation’s cultural history.
In the face of a never-ending stream of change, the month of May remains a time to look back on and celebrate the Philippines’ rich culture and history.

Sentro Rizal-Ottawa is pleased to share the announcement of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) on the 5th ANDREA O. VENERACION INTERNATIONAL CHORAL FESTIVAL in Manila on 20-23 July 2023.
The Festival is named after the late founding Choirmaster of the world-renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers and Philippine National Artist for Music Professor Andrea O. Veneracion, an esteemed choirmaster and choral clinician who was instrumental in the promotion of choral music all over the country.
