Philippine Embassy Welcomes Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine Air Force Delegates to Ottawa

30 May 2023- Philippine Ambassador to Canada Maria Andrelita S. Austria welcomed today the Philippine delegates who will be attending Canada’s global defense and security trade show known as CANSEC at the Mindanao Hall of the Philippine Embassy. The delegation is composed of high-level officials from the Philippine Coast Guard led by Admiral Artemio M Abu and the Philippine Air Force led by Major General Araus Robert Musico. During the courtesy call, Ambassador Austria and the Philippine delegates had an exchange of views on possible engagements between the Philippines and Canada, especially in the areas of maritime defense and security, through exchange of visits and capacity-building programs.

25 May 2023- Philippine Ambassador Maria Andrelita S. Austria received the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) 215th Squadron Director, Aux Capt. Adonis A. Sucalit, on 28 April 2023 to discuss the work and advocacy of PCGA as a volunteer arm of the PCG and explored possible areas of cooperation with the Embassy. Ambassador Austria and Aux Capt. Sucalit agreed to jointly organize activities supporting marine environmental protection, maritime safety and security, information campaigns for migrant Filipinos.
In a follow-through meeting on 25 May 2023, Philippine Embassy Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Myca Magnolia M. Fischer and Aux Capt Sucalit identified possible activities to commemorate the Philippine Maritime Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANA Mo) in September and community outreach activities for the remainder of this year. The PCGA 215th Squadron in Ottawa, Canada is the first squadron based outside the Philippines. - END

The Embassy of the Philippines in Canada joins the Filipino nation in observing the National Flag Days. We commemorate the unfurling of the Philippine national flag after the Philippine Revolutionary Army defeated the Spanish forces in the Battle at Alapan, Imus, Cavite in 1898.
Its observance shows our patriotism and commitment to national unity and promoting a sense of national pride.
2022 Marshall McLuhan Fellow Karmina Constantino meets with Philippine Embassy officials

18 May 2023, Ottawa- The Philippine Embassy Chargé d’Affaires,a.i. Myca Magnolia M. Fischer welcomed ABS-CBN veteran journalist and anchor Ms. Karmina Constantino at the Chancery. Ms. Constantino is the recipient of the 2022 Marshall McLuhan Fellowship, a flagship project of the Embassy of Canada in the Philippines in the field of public diplomacy. The project was launched in 1997 with the aim of encouraging responsible journalism in the Philippines, noting that a strong media is essential to a strong democratic society.
