The Philippine Embassy in Canada joins the nation in commemorating the Day of the Seafarer on 25 June 2023 with the theme, “MARPOL at 50 – Our commitment goes on“, highlighting the crucial role of seafarers in safeguarding the oceans and marine ecosystems. This annual international commemorative event is coordinated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Filipinos in Montreal Celebrate Filipino Heritage Month and 125th Anniversary of Philippine Independence

15 June 2023, Ottawa – The Philippine Embassy in Canada, represented by Minister and Deputy Head of Mission, Myca Magnolia M. Fischer, joined Filipinos and Filipino-Canadians in Montreal in a series of events celebrating Filipino Heritage Month and the 125th Anniversary of Philippine Independence.
On 10 June 2023, Ms. Fischer attended Kultura, a 2-part cultural show organized by the Filipino Heritage Society of Montreal (FHSM), led by its Chairman, Mr. Alfonso Abdon, at Maison de la culture de Côte-des-Neiges, Montreal. On the same day, Ms. Fischer graced the Philippine Independence Day celebration and 60th Anniversary of the Filipino Association of Montreal and Suburbs, Inc. (FAMAS) held at Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal, led by Mr. Romeo Remegio, FAMAS President.
Philippine Liquor Featured in Independence Day Celebration

14 June 2023, Ottawa – Manille Liqueur de Calamansi and Paradise Mango Rum Liqueur were among the featured Filipino drinks served during the diplomatic reception hosted by the Philippine Embassy in Canada for the 125th Anniversary of Philippine Independence on 14 June 2023. Aside from Destilleria Limtuaco’s fruit-based liqueur, Don Papa Rum from the Philippines was also served.
Over 150 guests, consisting of members of the diplomatic corps, Canadian government officials, leaders of the Filipino community in Ottawa, and key partners in various sectors enjoyed the cocktails served by Ottawa-based and Filipino-owned restaurant Lola’s Kitchen. Guests raved about the delicious cocktails called Calamansi Rum, White Mango, Lola’s Sangria, and Manille Spritz and said they look forward to their increased availability in Ottawa. END.
Philippine Embassy in Canada Hosts Independence Day Diplomatic Reception

19 June 2023, Ottawa –The Philippine Embassy in Canada, led by Ambassador Maria Andrelita S. Austria hosted on 14 June 2023 its first diplomatic reception since the pandemic in commemoration of the 125th anniversary of Philippine Independence, at the Mindanao Hall of the Embassy chancery. Over 150 guests, consisting of members of the diplomatic corps, Canadian government officials, Filipino community leaders in Ottawa, and key partners in various sectors attended the event. Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Robert Oliphant and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Development Anita Vandenbeld graced the event as Guests of Honor.
In her toast remarks, Ambassador Austria cited various positive developments in Philippines-Canada bilateral relations, highlighting the recent decision to establish Canada’s Indo-Pacific Agriculture Office in Manila and the inclusion of the Philippines in Canada’s Electronic Travel Authorization Program.
In response, MP Oliphant and MP Vandenbeld recounted the long and cordial relations between the two countries and expressed appreciation for the Philippines’ contributions to Canada’s diversity and dynamism.
