PHILIPPINE EMBASSY PARTICIPATES IN A CONFERENCE ON ASEAN AT THE MCGILL UNIVERSITY

01 December 2017, Ottawa – The Philippine Embassy, represented by Second Secretary Jeffrey Salik, participated in the “ASEAN at 50: Conference on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations’ 50th Anniversary,” organized and sponsored by the McGill Southeast Asia Lecture Series of the Department of Political Science, McGill University, in Montreal on 30 November 2017.
Mr. Salik reported on the highlights of the outcome of the 31st ASEAN Summit and Related Summits at the Conference. He highlighted the major accomplishments including the signing of the ASEAN Consensus on the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Migrant Workers as well as the numerous documents adopted and statements issued at the East Asia Summit, RCEP Summit and the various summits with dialogue partners.
The conference was attended by undergraduate and graduate students of McGill University, academicians, and members of the Working Group of the ASEAN Committee in Ottawa. END

28 November 2017, Ottawa – A delegation from the Department of National Defense visiting Canada called on Ambassador Petronila P. Garcia today, 28 November 2017, at the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa.
The delegation is visiting Canada upon the invitation of Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC), an independently operated Crown corporation that helps Canadian exporters sell products and services abroad as well as assists foreign governments purchase Canadian solutions.
The delegation is composed of Atty. Angelito Catillo of the Department of National Defense Legal Office, Col. Teofilo Bailon and Maj. Eric Tipon, both from the Philippine Air Force. END
OFFICERS OF ANCOP INTERNATIONAL (CANADA) CALLED ON AMBASSADOR PETRONILA P. GARCIA

28 November 2017, Ottawa – Officers of Ancop International (Canada) called on Ambassador Petronila P. Garcia today, 28 November 2017, at the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa. During their call, Ambassador Garcia was briefed on the projects being undertaken by Ancop International, a Canadian charity organization that aims to uplift the lives of poor families in developing countries by providing shelter, child education, and humanitarian relief.
One of the organization’s most recent projects is the completion of the construction of 400 shelters donated to families in Tacloban affected by super typhoon Haiyan. The organization raises funds through sponsorships, donations and activities like the “Ancop Walk,” a global annual event that draws supporters of Ancop project.
The group was led by Ancop Program Head Maria Pilar Dimaculangan. She was accompanied by Mr. Francis M. Yap, Mr. Ricky Cuenca, and Mrs. Irma B. Cuenca. END.
