The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa and the Philippine Consulate General in Halifax conducted a consular outreach mission in Halifax, Nova Scotia, from 26 to 29 November 2020. The consular outreach mission provided passport, notarial, and citizenship-retention services to the Filipino diaspora in the Maritime provinces.
Minister and Consul General Alan Deniega administers the oath to Filipinos retaining their Filipino citizenship in simple ceremony in Halifax.
The Consular Team of the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa provided passport and other consular services to Filipinos residing in and near the Halifax Regional Municipality.

Governor General Receives Credentials of Philippine Ambassador

In a virtual ceremony hosted by Rideau Hall, Governor General Julie Payette of Canada formally received the Letter of Credence of Ambassador Rodolfo D. Robles in the afternoon of 30 November 2020. The ceremony, broadcast live on the social media channel of the Office of the Governor General, fully accredits Ambassador Robles as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Philippines to Canada.

In their cordial exchange, Ambassador Robles spoke highly of the contribution of the Filipino diaspora in Canada as frontline health care workers and essential services staff. Governor General Payette acknowledged the integration of the Filipino diaspora as “part of the Canadian fabric.”
There are almost one million Filipinos in Canada, the second largest diaspora after those in the United States of America.
