Pioneering PCGA Overseas Unit Activated in Ottawa

The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa supported the activation of the first overseas unit of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) in a solemn virtual ceremony presided by Admiral George V. Ursabia, Jr., Commandant of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
PCGA National Director Vice Admiral Beethoven Sur welcomed the 19 PCGA overseas pioneers. Admiral Ursabia administered their oath before activating their 209.5 Division led by PCGA Commander Jesus Adonis Sucalit. The 209.5 Division is supervised by the 209th Squadron based in Cebu City, Philippines led by PCGA Captain Lilibeth Faelnar. The inductees were led by PCGA Commander Francisco Noel Fernandez III.
PCG Commandant Admiral George V. Ursabia, Jr. (2R, Top Row) and PCGA National Director Vice Admiral Beethoven Sur (L, Bottom Row) led the activation ceremony of the 209.5 Division, the first overseas unit of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) based in Ottawa, Canada.

Philippine Embassy Promotes Awareness on Domestic Violence

During the Saturday Consular Service for the month of September, personnel of the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa promoted awareness of the problem of domestic violence which has been reported as among the social problems resulting from the pandemic. The staff on duty wore their anti-Violence Against Women (VAW) shirts for the day for this purpose.
The Philippine Embassy has resumed in-person consular services since 25 May 2020 after the province of Ontario entered Phase 3 of its reopening stage. Clients may visit www.ottawape.dfa.gov.ph to secure their mandatory consular appointments.

Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Francisco Noel Fernandez III joins Senior Trade Commissioner Maria Roseni Alvero, officials from the Philippine Franchise Association, and representatives of Philippine companies offering franchising opportunities to overseas Filipino investors in a webinar on Philippine franchising opportunities.
The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa participated in a webinar on Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan Canada: Franchising Investment Opportunities in the Philippines jointly co-organized by the Trade Section of the Philippine Consulate General in Toronto and the Philippine Franchise Association (PFA) last Monday, 31 August 2020. The webinar was moderated by Senior Trade Commissioner Maria Roseni M. Alvero. Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Francisco Noel Fernandez III delivered a message to the participants.
During the webinar, representatives from member companies of PFA introduced franchising opportunities to Filipino investors from Canada. The companies presented were Potato Corner, LT &G Credit Line, Oryspa, U-Franchise, Bibingkinitan, and Cycle House.
