10 December 2022, Ottawa. The Philippine Embassy in Canada hosted Himig Filipino: An Afternoon of Filipino Classical Music at the Sentro Rizal Ottawa on 10 December 2022.
The piano concert featured Ms. Stephanie Alexis Cruz, the 2004 Philippine National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) First Prize Winner for the Piano Division Category B-1. Himig Filipino showcased a selection from a wide variety of Philippine Music from the Kundiman to Philippine Folk Songs. Ms. Cruz played a repertoire including Nicanor Abelardo’s Mutya ng Pasig and Constancio de Guzman’s Bayan Ko. All the songs were arranged for the piano by Pianist and songwriter Mr. Augusto Espino
Ms. Cruz is a Vice Consul at the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary. END

Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Francisco Noel R. Fernandez III exchanged pleasantries with Foreign Minister Melanie Joly in a reception she hosted for heads of missions in Ottawa.
Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Francisco Noel R. Fernandez III extended holiday greetings to Foreign Minister Melanie Joly in an evening reception she hosted on 8 December 2022 for heads of diplomatic missions in Ottawa.
In her remarks to her guests, Minister Joly expressed her interest to continue her engagement with her foreign counterparts. Prime Minister Justin Trudea, who momentarily graced the event, conveyed his appreciation for the efforts of diplomatic missions in Ottawa in promoting relationship with Canada.

Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Francisco Noel R. Fernandez III of the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa exchanged ideas with Senator Flordeliz “Gigi” Osler on programs to support the Filipino diaspora across Canada.
Over luncheon on Thursday, 8 December 2022, Fernandez provided updates on the Credentials Recognition in Canada (CRC) Project being implemented by the Philippine Posts in Canada (PPC). In addition to the issue of credentials recognition, Fernandez shared his views on the challenges faced by Filipino temporary foreign workers in Canada and offered suggestions in maximizing the contribution of Filipino professionals to their adopted communities.
