In response to the call from the Filipino community in Montreal, the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa conducted a mobile registration for prospective overseas voters on 9 October 2021, following the extension of the registration period to 14 October 2021.
A total of 316 overseas voting applications were processed during the day-long event.
“We support the call for greater involvement by the Filipino diaspora in Canada in the Philippine electoral process by bringing the overseas registration station to their community,” said Ambassador Rodolfo D. Robles.
Since the easing of travel restrictions by provincial authorities, the Embassy has conducted three mobile registrations in Montreal and another one in Moncton, New Brunswick. Montreal is home to an estimated 35,000 Filipinos, the highest concentration under the consular jurisdiction of the Embassy.
