PHILIPPINE EMBASSY AND PEI’S DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE LOOK TO EXPAND COOPERATION

19 September 2023, Ottawa - The Philippine Embassy called on PEI’s Deputy Premier and concurrent Minister of Agriculture Bloyce Thompson on 18 September 2023. The Philippine Embassy’s Deputy Head of Mission Myca Magnolia M. Fischer highlighted the importance the Philippines has placed on agriculture and food security. Minister Thompson noted previous cooperation between the Philippines and PEI on potatoes which had seen success in improving the yields of Filipino potato farmers. Both sides agreed to look into expanding this cooperation to other high value crops, as well as looking into possible cooperation in bovine genetics.

19 September 2023, Ottawa - The Philippine Embassy called on Mayor Philip Brown of Charlottetown on 18 September 2023. Deputy Head of Mission Myca Magnolia M. Fischer briefed Mayor Brown on the conduct of consular activities and thanked him for his support to the outreach mission. Mayor Brown remarked on the growing Filipino community in PEI and how the island’s maritime setting is very familiar to Filipinos. He also celebrated the fact that many Filipinos are showing an entrepreneurial spirit which contributes to the economy of the city.

Fischer called on Lieutenant Governor Antoinette Perry at her official residence in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Ms. Fischer noted the growing number of Filipinos in PEI and their many contributions to the economic development and cultural vibrancy of the island. Lieutenant Governor Perry shared the many policy matters they had to work on in favor of PEI’s migrant communities which have sharply risen in the last decade.

PHILIPPINE EMBASSY CONDUCTS CONSULAR OUTREACH IN CHARLOTTETOWN

19 September 2023, Ottawa - As part of its efforts to bring the consular services closer to the Filipino community, the Philippine Embassy conducted a consular outreach mission at the Holy Redeemer's Jack Blanchard Parish Centre in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island (PEI) on 16-17 September 2023. The consular team conducted passport, legalization, civil registration, NBI, RA 9225 applications, and ATN services on site.
