The Philippine Consulate General in Halifax observed the International Day of the Seafarers on June 24, 2017 in recognition of the sacrifices and contributions of Filipino seafarers to Philippine progress. The Mission to Seafarers Halifax, a non-profit charitable organization that helps seafarers, joined the Philippine Consulate General in celebrating the event.

Philippine Ambassador to Canada assumes Chair of ASEAN Committee in Ottawa (ACO)

Philippine Ambassador to Ottawa, Petronila P. Garcia has assumed the Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Ottawa (ACO) for July-December 2017. The Ambassador of Myanmar, H.E.Kyaw Myo Htut, turned over the Chair to the Philippines during the 252nd ACO Meeting on 22 June 2017 in Ottawa.
This year marks several milestones as ASEAN celebrates its 50th Anniversary since its establishment, and ASEAN-Canada Dialogue Relations marks its 40th year. The Philippines, which is the current Chair of ASEAN, is Country Coordinator for ASEAN-Canada Dialogue Relations.

The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa congratulates Ms. Armi A. Santos, Administrative Officer, on having been selected as one of the recipients for the DFA Most Outstanding Employee Award for 2017. She was selected after a rigorous vetting by the DFA Program on Rewards, Awards, and Incentive for Service Excellence (PRAISE) Committee upon nomination by Ambassador Petronila P. Garcia.

16 June 2017, Ottawa – In line with the celebration of the 119th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence and Philippine Heritage Week, the Philippine Embassy in Canada opened the art exhibit “Filipinism: What Makes Art Filipino” today featuring the works of contemporary Filipino artists Aris Bagtas, Anna Lumpas, Ronna Manansala, Wilfredo Rufon, Sr., and Eman Sia of Kunst Gallery.
