15 August 2017, Ottawa – Ambassador Petronila Garcia hosted a farewell luncheon in honor of Mongolian Ambassador Radnaabazar Altangerel today at the Mindanao Hall of the Philippine Embassy. Heads of mission from the Asia Pacific countries and other senior officials were present at the luncheon.
Ambassador Altangerel will be passing on to Ambassador Garcia the Deanship of the Asia Pacific Group of Ambassadors when he completes his tour of duty at the end of August.
The Asia Pacific Group of Ambassadors is composed of the heads of missions from the following countries: (1) Mongolia; (2) the Philippines; (3) Brunei Darussalam; (4) Indonesia; (5) Australia; (6) Nepal; (7) Thailand; (8) Japan; (9) Sri Lanka; (10) Pakistan; (11) Malaysia; (12) New Zealand; (13) Bangladesh; (14) Myanmar; (15) Afghanistan; (16) Viet Nam; (17) India; (18) People’s Republic of China; and (19) Republic of Korea. The ASEAN Committee in Ottawa (ACO) Heads of Mission gathered on Tuesday, 8 August 2017 to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the 40th Anniversary of ASEAN – Canada Relations. Gathering at the Official Residence of the Ambassador of Indonesia in Ottawa, the ACO Heads of Mission were joined by their spouses, Global Affairs Canada Director General J. Ian Burchett, Deputy Heads of the respective ACO Missions, and members of the ACO Working Group in a solemn flag raising ceremony.
The group also planted a maple tree as a symbol of robust ASEAN – Canada dialogue relations. The event was capped with the distribution of ASEAN 50th Anniversary commemorative coins and refreshments for the participants. —END--

1 August 2017, Ottawa – In celebration of the Philippines’ “Buwan ng Wika,” the Philippine Embassy in Canada form ally opened today “Sampayan,” a solo art exhibit by Banyuhay singer Heber Bartolome at the Embassy’s Mindanao Hall. The exhibit, which runs from 1 – 15 August 2017, features an eclectic collection of Mr. Bartolome’s works, from the early days of the band Banyuhay to more recent works from his travels abroad.
