12 March 2024, Ottawa – Philippine Ambassador Maria Andrelita S. Austria met with Associate Assistant Deputy Minister Julien Brazeau of the Canadian Department of Finance’s Finance Sector Policy Branch (FSPB). Both sides discussed cooperation in the field of financial security in light of international illicit flow of money towards bad faith actors. Ambassador Austria also shared that millions of Filipinos send money internationally to the Philippines through remittances. The Philippines is therefore committed to ensuring that its financial system is up to global standards.

18 March 2024, Ottawa - Philippine Ambassador Maria Andrelita S. Austria met with Canada’s International Development Minister Ahmed Hussen to discuss the Philippines’ development priorities and the specific areas that would benefit greatly from Canada’s assistance programming. Noting the importance of education in helping the Philippines and Filipinos adapt to future challenges, the Embassy also proposed cooperation in capacity-building initiatives and technology transfer in mutually-beneficial areas such as health care, climate change, etc.

The Philippine Embassy in Canada, in partnership with the Filipino Heritage Society of Montreal, invites Filipino International Students in Montreal to the Filipino International Students Forum to be held on 23 March 2024 at the Holiday Inn, Montreal Centre-ville, 999 Rue Saint-Urbain, Montreal, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
With the growing number of Filipino international students going to Canada, this activity aims to assist incoming students through a series of briefings and talks. The two-hour forum will gather representatives from settlement and integration services, and Philippine consular and labor services.
