12 March 2024, Ottawa - As part of activities in celebration of International Women’s Day and National Women’s Month, the Embassy of the Philippines in Canada, in cooperation with Immigrant Women Services Ottawa (IWSO), organized a training and capacity-building to address gender-based violence for its personnel, on 11 March 2024, at the Mindanao Hall of the Chancery.
With 60% of the Filipino immigrants in Canada being women and many of them facing unique vulnerabilities and challenges, Deputy Head of Mission Myca Magnolia Fischer underscored the Embassy’s responsibility to ensure that their voices are heard, their rights are protected, and their safety is prioritized.

8 MARCH 2024 - As part of the month-long celebration in observance of National Women’s Month, the Philippine Embassy participated in a series of events in celebration of International Women’s Day highlighting the role of women leadership, with the theme, Invest in Women, Accelerate Progress.
Ambassador Maria Andrelita S. Austria served as a panelist in the Women Heads of Missions Executive Leadership Panel for International Women’s Day on Parliament Hill, entitled, “Women at the Helm, Leading with Grit to Drive Positive Change Globally,” and highlighted the role of women leaders in ensuring gender equality and inclusivity. Ambassador Austria also joined the City of Ottawa’s Celebration of IWD and another event by the Women Heads of Diplomatic Missions in Ottawa, which was attended by Canada’s Governor General Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon.
Philippine Nuclear Trade Mission Looks into Opportunities in Canada's Nuclear Industry

05 March 2024, Ottawa – Ambassador Maria Andrelita S. Austria accompanied a delegation of Philippine energy regulators, experts and representatives in meetings with Canada’s nuclear energy institutions in Ottawa. The delegation met with senior officials from Global Affairs Canada’s International Trade, Natural Resources Canada, and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission who briefed them on Canada’s nuclear energy technology and their history in safely assisting other countries develop their own nuclear energy capacity. The delegation also met with senior executives from the Canadian Commercial Corporation and Export Development Canada to look at the ways Canada can assist the Philippines in importing the technology.

Philippine Embassy Conducts Lecture on Protocol, Social Graces, and Etiquette in the POP 2024 Workshop

26 February 2024, Ottawa – The Philippine Embassy in Canada participated in the 2024 Pinoys on Parliament (POP) Workshop by conducting a lecture on Protocol, Social Graces and Etiquette to one of the conference cohorts held at the Arts Court on 24 February 2024.
First Secretary and Consul Alexander Joseph Estomo discussed the basics of protocol, order of precedence and its applications, and hosting of ceremonies, and official and social functions. Prior to assuming his post in Ottawa, Mr. Estomo was the Deputy Chief of Presidential Protocol in the Philippines.
