23 August 2024, Ottawa – The Embassy of the Philippines in Canada successfully launched the 9th Winter Escapade in its Mindanao Hall on 22 August 2024.
Dubbed as “True North Goes North,” the 9th edition of Winter Escapade will take visitors to a 10-day all inclusive tour from Manila to Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Baguio, and Pangasinan from 9 to 18 February 2025. It will be an adventure-packed and enriching vacation experience to explore the scenic landscapes, cultural treasures and the breathtaking natural wonders of northern Philippines.
In her welcome remarks, Philippine Ambassador to Canada Maria Andrelita Austria invited guests to join Winter Escapade 9 for two main reasons, in addition to reconnecting to one's roots. Firstly, to promote the Philippines to Filipino-Canadians as a first class tourism destination and to expose their children to the country’s beauty and richness of its culture, and show them the myriad of reasons that they should be proud of their Filipino heritage. Secondly, to make a concrete contribution to the Philippines’ economic development by strengthening the tourism industry.
Mr. Jojo Clemente, President of Rajah Tours Inc., the designated ground handler of Winter Escapade 9 in the Philippines, presented the WE9 tour package. Mr. Allan Coo, Country Manager for Canada of Philippine Airlines, shared PAL’s discounted airfare rates exclusively for the Escapade participants. Ms. Chola de Jesus shared her experience in joining Winter Escapade over and over again, and highly encouraged the audience to participate in the WE9.
The guests were treated to a taste of the northern Philippines’ cuisine such as bagnet, dinakdakan, pinakbet, okoy-kalabasa, turon, and the all-time Filipino favorite summer dessert, halo-halo.
The Winter Escapade is a tourism promotion program of all Philippine Foreign Service Posts in Canada designed for Filipinos and Canadians to travel to the Philippines and discover new attractions and destinations in the country. It targets to bring 300 participants from Canada to the Philippines.
