03 August 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in Canada joins the Filipino Nation, in the Philippines, Canada, and around the world, in mourning the passing of Fidel V. Ramos, the 12^th President of the Philippines, on 31 July 2022. There will be a 10-day period of national mourning until 09 August 2022.

President Ramos conducted a State Visit to Canada in November 1997. While in Canada, he visited the Filipino Communities in Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg, and Vancouver. While President, he also welcomed then Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien on an official visit to Manila in January 1997.

PR 146 2022 Philippine Embassy Kicks Off Buwan ng Wika in Ottawa

02 August 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in Canada commenced the commemoration of the Buwan ng Wika (Month of the Filipino Language) in Ottawa through the distribution of Filipino Language story books and coloring books to second generation Filipinos. The activity was conducted on the first working day of the month.

Among those who received books is 4-year-old Klay Mathew who was excited to learn more about the Filipino language.

PR 145 2022 International Taste of Canada

02 August 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in Canada promoted Filipino Culture at the Carlington Neghborhood in Ottawa, Ontario last 31 July 2022 as part of the International Taste of Canada event of the Caldwell Family Center.

The Embassy shared information about the Philippines and served a vegetarian Pancit for the local residents to enjoy. The Embassies of Mexico and India, and volunteers from the Jamaican, Syrian, Ukrainian, and Somalian communities in the area also participated in the event.
