20 August 2023, Toronto- Philippine Ambassador Maria Andrelita S. Austria participated in the annual Taste of Manila, the longest running Filipino street festival in Toronto on 19-20 August 2023. Now on its 10th year, the event attracted some 200,000 people over two days, and featured Filipino food, services and entertainment in a three block stretch in the heart of Toronto’s Little Manila.

18 August 2023, Ottawa – Winter Escapade 8 (WE8) was officially launched by the Embassy of the Philippines in Canada on 17 August 2023 at its Mindanao Hall, to a crowd of almost eighty Filipinos and Canadians from Ottawa, Gatineau, and other nearby towns in Ontario.
The flagship tourism project led by the Philippine Embassy and Consulates General in Canada, in cooperation with the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Tourism, and Tourism Promotions Board, is now back on its eighth season after a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic.
Winter Escapade 8 is a meticulously crafted 10-day all inclusive tour, from February 18 to 27, 2023, featuring eco-adventures, cultural excursions, and gastronomic treats in Manila, Iloilo, Cebu and Bohol. From pristine beaches to lush jungles, vibrant cities to serene rural landscapes, WE8 package offers an all-encompassing experience that showcases the unique charm and hospitality of the Filipino people.

Samot-Saring Hiraya: Imagination Through Filipino Stories

In celebration of Buwan ng Wika (National Language Month), The Department of Foreign Affairs - Office of Public and Cultural Diplomacy, in cooperation with Story House Philippines, will be holding an online storytelling event entitled “Samot-Saring Hiraya: Imagination through Filipino Stories” on 22 August 2023, Tuesday, at 2:00 AM (EST) or 2:00 PM (PST). 17 August 2023: Philippine Ambassador to Canada Maria Andrelita S. Austria paid a courtesy call on Ottawa mayor, His Worship Mark Sutcliffe. During the meeting, Ambassador Austria informed the Mayor of recent developments in the Filipino community in Ottawa, including the surge in the number of Filipino students this academic year. She also shared information on the Embassy’s priorities and programs to support the growing Filipino diaspora. Mayor Sutcliffe acknowledged the significant contribution of the Filipino community in Ottawa and in Canada.
