4 December 2024, Ottawa - In a vibrant display of friendship and affinity, several of Canada's iconic landmarks were illuminated, in the colors of the Philippine flag, on Sunday, 1 December 2024, in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of the Philippines and Canada.
Members of the Filipino community across Canada gathered for a flag raising and lighting ceremony at a selected venue in their respective town/province, in each of Canada’s six (6) time zones. With immense pride, they showcased the enduring friendship and collaboration between the two nations and honored the contributions of Filipino communities to Canadian society through this event.

9 December 2024, Ottawa – Filipino-Canadians and Canadians in Ottawa and nearby areas gathered once again to celebrate the joyous holiday season at the second edition of Paskong Pinoy sa Ottawa on 7 December 2024, held at Peter A. Herrndorf Place, National Arts Centre (NAC).
One of the highlights of the event was the highly anticipated Parol-Making Workshop, where participants of all ages had the opportunity to learn the art of creating traditional Filipino Christmas lanterns, known as parol.
In her brief remarks, the Embassy’s Deputy Head of Mission Myca Magnolia Fischer said, “We are one million strong diaspora here in Canada and it is important that we share our brand of Christmas with the rest of Canada. Christmas is the longest and liveliest fiesta in the Philippines, and the parol is an iconic symbol of the Filipino Christmas. ” Ms. Fischer invited the guests to join the parol-making workshop sponsored by the Embassy and to take advantage of the presence of those selling Filipino delicacies and products.

19 October 2024, Ottawa – In celebration of the 2024 Philippine National Indigenous Peoples Month, the Embassy’s Sentro Rizal Ottawa successfully hosted a shadow puppet show and storytelling, Once Upon the Sun and Sea: Explore Philippine Indigenous Tales, on 19 October 2024, held at Sentro Rizal Ottawa - Mindanao Hall of the Embassy. The event was composed of three (3) activities, namely, storytelling, shadow puppet show, and art workshop. It was attended by approximately 40 participants composed of young and adult members of the Filipino-Canadian community in Ottawa.
