The Embassy of the Philippines in Canada joins the nation in commemorating the 128th anniversary of the martyrdom of Dr. José Rizal. This year’s theme, Rizal sa Bagong Pilipinas: Buhay at Aral, Aming Nilalandas (Rizal in the New Philippines: Life and Teachings, as our Guide), serves as a powerful reminder of his enduring influence on the country’s present and future.
This year’s commemoration honors Dr. Rizal’s enduring legacy and relevance in shaping the modern Filipino identity as well as his teachings that continue to inspire the nation toward progress and unity.
As we honor Rizal, let us also renew our commitment to the ideals he championed. May his memory inspire us to strive for a society that values justice, truth, and the collective good—a society that would have made Rizal proud.
