18 September 2018, Ottawa – H.E.Ahmed Aflel Jawad, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Canada, bids farewell to Philippine Ambassador Petronila P. Garcia. The two Ambassadors took the opportunity to express their mutual appreciation for the warm and friendly relations, both official and personal, that exist between the Philippines and Sri Lanka, including that of their respective missions in Canada.

17 September 2018, Ottawa – Member of Parliament Marco Mendecino called on Ambassador Petronila P. Garcia to discuss means to strengthen Philippines – Canada relations. MP Mendecino (Liberal) represents Eglinton-Lawrence, Province of Ontario, in the House of Commons and he is currently serving as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities.

The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa continued to spread awareness against human trafficking by informing the leaders of the Filipino community in Bermuda of this modern day slavery. The information dissemination was conducted by Deputy Chief of Mission Francisco Noel Fernandez III who was assisted by Assistance-to-Nationals Officer Ma Teresa Benitez-Bragais.
