09 August 2022, DFA—The Philippines was deemed a middle power in Asia, ranking 16th in overall comprehensive power out of 26 countries and territories included in the Index, according to the briefing on the key findings of the Asia Power Index 2021. Other middle powers identified were Japan, India, Australia and Indonesia. The Philippines’ positive “power gap”- or how well the country converts its resources into influence in Asia -improved in the same year. It also ranked first in 2022 on the “alliance force multiplier” among 10 other countries including Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, and the United States due to its strong military alliances particularly with the US.

Philippine Embassy Convenes Meeting to Advance the Interests of Filipino Nurses in Quebec

15 August 2022, Ottawa. The Philippine Embassy in Canada convened a Stakeholders Meeting with Filipino Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) in Quebec on 14 August 2022. This is in line with the Credentials Recognition in Canada (CRC) Project being spearheaded by the Philippine Posts in Canada (PPC). The Stakeholders Meeting was conducted in cooperation with the Filipino Nurses Association of Quebec.
The PPC is composed of the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa and the Philippine Consulates General in Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto.
Philippine Embassy Joins ASEAN Day Celebration

Personnel of the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa attended the 2022 celebration of ASEAN Day in Ottawa.
The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa participated in the 55th anniversary celebration of the founding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) organized by the ASEAN Committee in Ottawa (ACO) on 8 August 2022.
Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Francisco Noel R. Fernandez III was joined by Third Secretary Leo Marco C. Vidal, Third Secretary Jan Michael B. Gomez, Attaché Anginel C. Padilla-Conchas, and Acting Cultural Officer Jasmin R. Pajalla.
The Philippine Embassy contributed pancit palabok and turon to the ASEAN cuisine served to members of the diplomatic corps who attended the event.
