28 MARCH 2023, Ottawa – The Sentro Rizal – Ottawa hosted Sayawan: Philippine Folk Dance Workshop on 25 March 2023 at the chancery’s Mindanao Hall.
The workshop is a collaboration of the Filipino Students Association of the University of Ottawa (FilSAUO) and Carleton University Filipino Students’ Association (CUFSA), with the Philippine Dance Troupe of Ottawa (PDTO).
Ambassador Maria Andrelita S. Austria welcomed the joint initiatives of the Filipino-Canadian youth and established cultural organizations in Ottawa to promote Filipino culture and heritage. Ambassador Austria added that this workshop was a welcome opportunity to increase awareness and cultivate a lasting interest in Philippine arts and culture among the youth in Ottawa.

17 MARCH 2023 – The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa welcomes the arrival of Ms. Myca Magnolia M. Fischer. She arrived in Ottawa to assume her duty as Deputy Head of Mission of this Embassy on 17 March 2023. Ms. Fischer previously served as Executive Director and Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Office of Asian and Pacific Affairs in the Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila.
Philippine Embassy and Consulates General in Canada Launch 2nd Filipino Restaurant Month

21 MARCH 2023, Ottawa – The Embassy of the Philippines in Canada joined Filipino restaurants throughout Canada in a hybrid press conference led by the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary to officially launch the second iteration of the Filipino Restaurant Month in Canada (FRMC) on 20 March 2023.
A project conducted in cooperation with the Philippine Consulates General in Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto, and in partnership with the Department of Tourism and the Department of Trade and Industry, Filipino Restaurant Month brings focus to the rich diversity of Filipino cuisine available through the various Filipino restaurants in Canada.
A total of 42 restaurants representing the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan are participating in Filipino Restaurant Month by offering prix fixe menus to its customers this April. In Eastern Canada, six restaurants have joined this event, namely, Junior Filipino (Montreal, QC), Tinape (Bedford, NS), Silong Express (Halifax, NS), Sinaing (St. John’s, NL), Lola’s Kitchen and Tamis Café (Ottawa, ON).

Philippine Embassy Joins in Honoring Outstanding Filipinos in Montreal

18 March 2023, Montreal – The Philippine Embassy, represented by Vice Consul Leo Vidal, joined the Filipino Community in Montreal in honoring and celebrating the achievements of outstanding Filipinos and organizations who have made a mark in Canada and contributed to the uplifting of Filipino pride in the country.
The event was organized by the Filipino Heritage Society of Montreal, led by its Chair, Mr. Alfonso Abdon. Among the honorees was Councillor Stephanie Valenzuela, the very first Filipino-Canadian to be elected to the Montreal City Council. /END
