14 May 2025, Ottawa - The Philippine Embassy in Canada is proud to announce the successful conclusion of the 4th Filipino Restaurant Month in Canada (FRMC), held throughout April 2025. This annual culinary celebration showcased the rich and diverse flavors of Filipino cuisine across the nation, with over 20 participating restaurants offering curated prix-fixe menus.
As part of the event, diners at participating restaurants across Canada had the chance to enter electronic raffles and win exciting prizes.

Silong Express, located in Halifax, is known for its authentic Filipino "Eat-All-You-Can" dining experience. It is proudly owned and operated by Mr. John Erick Delos Reyes.
Saboroso Bistro, celebrated for its epicurean take on Filipino dishes, features specialties that highlight the rich culinary traditions of Ilonggo cuisine. It is owned and operated by Hero and Danielle Casiple.
Under the Embassy’s consular jurisdiction, Tulip Restaurant (with Filipino Executive Chef David Vinoya) and Sanduk Restaurant also participated in this year’s FRMC, alongside Silong Express and Saboroso Bistro.
FRMC 2025 forms part of the Common Cultural Calendar of the Philippine Posts in Canada. It is spearheaded by the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary, in collaboration with the Philippine Department of Tourism - San Francisco, Department of Trade and Industry, the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa, and the Philippine Consulates General in Toronto and Vancouver. The event is made possible through the participation of restaurants across Canada and the generous support of sponsors such as Seafood City, OTT Remit, Philippine Airlines, and Air Canada.

Call for Entries: 2025 Migration Advocacy and Media Awards

Calling on media outlets, institutions, and practitioners based in the Philippines or abroad!
The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) has officially opened the call for nominations for the 2025 Migration Advocacy and Media (MAM) Awards, an annual recognition program that honors outstanding media contributions promoting awareness and understanding of migration issues.
Eligible works must fall within the fields of print, radio, television, film, advertising, and interactive media - Print Journalism Award, Radio Journalism Award, Television Journalism Award, Film Media Award, Interactive Media Award, Advertisement Award, and Media Advocate Award. Entries must have contributed to raising public awareness of migration issues, advocating for the rights and welfare of overseas Filipinos, or promoting a more accurate and positive portrayal of Filipinos abroad.
The deadline for submission of entries is on 31 July 2025.

PHILIPPINE EMBASSY TEAM BRINGS CONSULAR AND OVERSEAS VOTING SERVICES TO HALIFAX

05 May 2025. Ottawa. A team from the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa visited Halifax, Nova Scotia for a consular and overseas voting outreach mission on 3-4 May 2025. A total of 307 services were rendered, which includes passport applications, legalization, civil registry and dual citizenship applications. The bulk of the consular services provided by the team were on passport renewal for minors. Of the 307 services, a total of 202 applications for passport renewal and a combined total of 105 applications for legalization, civil registration, NBI form attestation, travel document and dual citizenship processing were processed.
There were also 37 qualified individuals who took their oath of allegiance under the Citizenship Retention and Reacquisition Act of 2003 or more commonly known as the Dual Citizenship Law (R.A. 9225). A briefing was held for the new dual citizens regarding their rights and privileges.
Another briefing was conducted for registered voters regarding pre-voting enrolment internet voting.
Representatives from the Toronto-based Migrant Workers Office joined the outreach to provide labor-related services and undertake prison visits.
The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa holds consular jurisdiction over Nova Scotia, which is home to 6,615 Filipinos. The largest concentration of the Filipino population in the Province is found in Halifax which is home to over 4,000 Filipinos. END
