Ottawa, 31 May 2017 - Constable Sebastien Lemay of the Ottawa Police Service joins the staff of the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa led by Chargé d'affaires,a.i. Francisco Noel R. Fernandez III after the briefing Constable Lemay gave on the security situation in Canada's capital. The security briefing is part of the Personnel Continuing Education Program (PCEP) of the Embassy intended to equip staff with important information to better serve the Filipino community in Canada.

The Department of Foreign Affairs reiterates the Philippine Government's robust measures against human trafficking. The guidelines to protect Filipino travelers against human trafficking syndicates is provided in Department of Justice Memorandum Circular No. 036 dated 15 June 2015.
Statement on the Declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao

In order to suppress lawless violence and rebellion and for public safety it is necessary to declare Martial Law in the entire island of Mindanao including Sulu, Jolo and Tawi-Tawi for a maximum of 60 days.
The Philippine Government is in full control, and fully aware that the Maute Group / ISIS groups have the capability (although limited) to disturb the peace; they have shown no hesitation in causing havoc, taking innocent lives and destroying property.
