02 May 2018, Ottawa. Fourteen Philippine companies participate in the Salon Internationale de L’alimentation (SIAL) Canada 2018, considered the largest agri-food exhibitions in North America, being held from 02 to 04 May 2018 at the Palais des congrés in Montreal, Quebec.
Ambassador Petronila P. Garcia met with the Filipino exhibitors and visited their respective booths. The Filipino exhibitors were mostly into manufacturing and marketing of processed foods like banana chips, virgin coconut oil, fish crackers, jams and marmalade, coconut sap seasoning, mango flour and cookies, cacao nibs, spaghetti pasta, peanuts with garlic chips, and herbal food supplements, among others. The Department of Trade and Industry’s Export Marketing Bureau likewise participated in the exhibition to assist prospective buyers of Philippine-made products.
SIAL Canada 2018 offers a wide range of food products from retail and food processing to food packaging and catering service. The SIAL trade show is the only event of its scale in Canada having more than a thousand exhibitors featured on Palais des congress’ more than 240,000 sq. ft. of exhibiting space. END
