Ambassador Petronila P. Grcia attended the launching of the Tagalog translation of the Montreal Charter of Rights and Responsiblities, held at the Hotel de Ville de Montreal on 13 June 2017.

In the pictures are Ambassador Garcia, with His Worship The Honorable Denis Coderre (Mayor of Montreal), Executive Committee Member M. Lionel Peres, Burrough Mayor Russel Copeman (Cote-de-Nege), Councillor Marvin Rotrand, and Filipino Canadian Citizens of Montreal. The unveiling coincides with many milestones, the 375th anniversary of Montreal, the 150th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada, and the 119th Anniversary of Philippine Independence.

In her message, Ambassador Garcia noted that the translation of the Charter to Filipino is a strong, unequivocal signal that Filipinos are part of the very fabric that defines Montreal. The Filipino-Canadian community is the third largest immigrant community and the Philippines is the biggest source of new immigrants into Canada. There are more than 70,000 Filipinos in the province of Quebec.
