The Philippine Embassy joined the Seniors of West Islands and the Suburbs (SWIS) in celebrating the 119th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence with a Gala Night at the Olympia Hall in Dollard Des Ormeaux in the City of Montreal on 4 June 2017. Minister and Consul General Eric Gerardo E. Tamayo and Mrs. Mary Joyce Tamayo greet SWIS Chair Roger Ajero and Mrs. Nellie Ajero and SWIS Officers and members and Council Alex Bottausci. MP Frank Bayliss and Councillor Roger Trottier also attended the celebrations which also saw the participation of leaders of various Filipino groups in Montreal and with captivating dance performances from the Pamana Group.
