26 March 2025, Ottawa – The Philippine Embassy in Canada proudly participated in the Y Embassy Chef Showcase, held at the Horticulture Building in Lansdowne Park, Ottawa.

Representing the Philippine Embassy, Filipino-Canadian Chef Hero Provido, owner of Saboroso Bistro and Catering, together with his wife, Chef Danielle Casiple, presented a delectable selection of Filipino dishes in the culinary competition attended by almost 300 guests. Their menu featured a rich and flavorful Chicken Empanada, Sisig Bruschetta, Beef Salpicao, Pancit Palabok, and Beef Kaldereta, topped off with beloved Filipino desserts Buko Pandan and Leche Flan.

The esteemed panel of judges was led by Margaret Dickinson, world-renowned cookbook author, columnist, and television host.

Aside from the Philippines, diplomatic missions from Malaysia, Pakistan, Qatar, Ghana, Jamaica, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, China, and Germany also participated, with a special appearance by the United Nations Association in Canada.

The event offered guests a unique opportunity to savor authentic dishes and beverages crafted by talented chefs from around the world. It celebrated culinary excellence, cultural diversity, all while fostering friendly competition and supporting the community.
