8 May 2024, Ottawa - Secretary of Foreign Affairs Enrique A. Manalo met with Canada’s Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada Minister Marc Miller on 08 May 2024.

The two discussed the strong people-to-people ties between the Philippines and Canada and ways to strengthen the growing Filipino diaspora in Canada.

Secretary Manalo conveyed the Philippine government’s hope for Filipino professionals to be able to practice their professions in Canada and for stronger protection of temporary foreign workers and  international students in the country.

The two also agreed to collaborate in highlighting the migration relations between the Philippines and Canada as part of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The meeting took place during Secretary Manalo’s first official visit to Canada on 7-8 May 2024. END
