20 August 2023, Ottawa- The Philippine Embassy Minister and Deputy Head of Mission Myca Magnolia M. Fischer witnessed the induction and donning of ranks to eight new members of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary 215.1st Division, the first auxiliary division outside the Philippines. PCGA Deputy National Director for Operations, Aux RADM Manolita Faelnar,  served as the presiding officer and guest of honor during the induction ceremony.

A voluntary uniformed non-government organization formed with a military structure and attached to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the PCGA assists the PCG in promoting safety of life and property at sea, protection of the marine environment and responding to maritime emergencies.

In her remarks, Ms. Fischer highlighted the  unique calling of the PCGA division in Canada. “Being the sole division operating outside the Philippines, you shoulder both the responsibility and the privilege of identifying technological  advancements and best practices that can be shared with your counterparts back home, especially since Canada has the longest coastline in the world.”   Ms. Fischer also expressed confidence that, “with an inspired leadership, both in the Philippines and in Ottawa, the 215.1 Division  will continue to flourish, embodying the very essence of the Filipino spirit, and making a positive impact on your communities.” -END
