27 May 2019, Ottawa – In a simple ceremony held at the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa, Ms. Consuel G. Lacson was sworn in as Philippine Honorary Consul in Halifax, Nova Scotia on 24 May 2019. Chargé d’Affaires ad interim and Deputy Chief of Mission Francisco Noel R. Fernandez III administered her oath taking.
Ms. Lacson, a Canadian Citizen with roots in Cebu, Philippines, is the latest appointee to the Philippines’ honorary consular corps in Canada and the third to be appointed as such in Nova Scotia, joining Honorary Consul General Sean Sears and Honorary Vice Consul Elizabeth Eustaquio-Domondon. To prepare her for her new role, Ms. Lacson was briefed by Minister Alan L. Deniega, First Secretary Greg Marie Mariño and First Secretary Jeffrey Salik on Philippine priorities on consular, cultural and economic issues, respectively.
In addition to Halifax, the Philippines maintains Honorary Consulates General in St. John’s, New Foundland and Labrador, and in Winnipeg, Manitoba. -END-
