Ambassador Petronila P. Garcia welcomed the latest batch of Filipino immigrants to Canada at a post-arrival orientation briefing held at the Chancery of the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa last 22 April 2017. They represent the newly arrived Filipino immigrants to the province of Quebec who were immediately granted permanent residency during the past few months, many of whom are nurses. They have settled in Gatineau, Quebec, which is part of the Ottawa-Gatineau Municipal Region.

Ambassador Garcia provided suggestions and comments to the participants in order to help them adjust to their new lives in Canada. She encouraged them to participate actively in Filipino community activities and widen their network of friends as they seek to start their respective careers.
