25 August 2016, Ottawa, ON, Canada - The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa, Canada feted its three outgoing senior officers with a reception that brought together various Embassy partners instrumental in building Philippines – Canada relations throughout the years.
Minister and Consul Flerida Mayo and Minister and Consul Porfirio Mayo will be returning to Manila to take up new assignments after completing their respective tours of duty, while Deputy Chief of Mission Norman Uriel Garibay will be transferring to the Philippine Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya, as the incoming Deputy Chief of Mission and Charge d’Affaires, ad interim.
Representatives from the various diplomatic missions in Canada, Canadian federal and local officials, and leaders of the different Filipino organizations in Ottawa joined the Embassy in celebrating the accomplishments of the outgoing officers. It was also an opportunity for the guests to renew and exchange contacts with the Embassy's network.
While addressing the guests at the reception, Ambassador Petronila P. Garcia lauded the officers for their hard work. She highlighted the many successful projects accomplished under their watch, including the Winter Escapade, which is now on its fourth run, the transfer of the Embassy's Chancery to a new location, the strengthening of Philippines – Canada relations, and the continued delivery of effective and timely consular service to the Filipino community in Ottawa and other areas. She also welcomed the arrival of the Embassy's new officers, incoming Deputy Chief of Mission Francisco Noel Fernandez III and Second Secretary and Consul Greg Marie Mariño. END
