Ambassador Austria visited Royal Star Foods Lobster  Plant in Tignish, a town 142 kilometers away from Prince Edward Island’s (PEI) capital city of Charlottetown and in the northwestern tip of the Island. Royal Star is one of Eastern Canada’s  largest seafood processing plants and employs more than 260 Filipinos. Majority of the company’s workforce is Filipino. They man the plant’s production and logistics. Ambassador Austria and her team took the time to speak with the workers and tour the plant. Workers in the fish plants are one of the most vulnerable migrants in Canada. Ambassador Austria’s visit is part of the Embassy’s effort to continuously monitor their condition and bring the Embassy’s services closer to the workers.
