08 November 2024, Ottawa. Ambassador Maria Andrelita S. Austria met with Deputy Premier and Minister of Agriculture, Justice and Public Safety, and Attorney General of Prince Edward  Island (PEI), Bloyce Thompson during her three-day visit in PEI.

She proposed collaboration with PEI in improving dairy production by exchanging best practices on bovine genetics. Deputy Premier Thompson is a dairy farmer himself and had in the past worked on bovine genetics for his farm.

The two noted the contributions of the Filipino community in PEI and agreed that credentials recognition is an important concern for the community.

Ambassador Austria invited the Deputy Premier to visit the Philippines and explore further cooperation in agriculture between the Philippines and PEI.

Ambassador Austria and her team went on a three-day visit to PEI to meet with the Filipino community and check on Filipinos working in the Province. During the visit, she discussed with PEI government officials ways to address the barriers to recognition of foreign credentials, strengthen the Filipino community and promote trade and investments.

She was accompanied by Consul General Rea Oreta, Officer in-Charge of the Migrant Workers Office in Toronto, Benny Reyes, Trade Commissioner for Canada Mario Tani and former Philippine Honorary Consul in Charlottetown, Leticia La Rosa. END
