16 June 2024, Montreal – Minister and Consul General Rea G. Oreta of the Embassy of the Philippines joined the officials and members of the Council of Canadian Filipino Associations of Quebec (CCFAQ), headed by Mr. Dario Boco, in a Philippine Independence Day parade and picnic on 16 June 2024 at MacKenzie-King Park in Montreal. She commended the community for coming together to showcase Philippine culture, food and talent, reminiscent of the bayanihan tradition in Philippine society.

Several national and local government officials were present to join in the celebration and affirm the significant contribution of the Filipino community to Montreal society. Among those who attended the above-cited events were Member of Parliament Anthony Housefather, MNA for Outrement Michelle Setlawke, borough Mayor of Cote-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grace Gracia Kasoki Katahwa,  City Councillors Stephanie Valenzuela and Sonny Moroz, and member of the Montreal School Board Executive Committee Ellie Israel.
