26 March 2024, Ottawa – The Philippine Embassy in Canada, in partnership with Filipino Heritage Society of Montreal (FHSM), organized a round-table discussion with Filipino International Students in Montreal on 23 March 2024 at the Holiday Inn Downtown Montreal.  

The activity aimed to reach out to Filipino International Students (FIS) in Quebec, introduce Philippine government services, and discuss their issues and concerns.  FHSM is a not-for-profit, member-based organization whose mission is to create cultural events and activities that highlight Filipino heritage, and provide educational programs and opportunities for members of the Filipino-Canadian community in Montreal.

The 3-hour event featured presentations by  representatives from Toronto-based Migrant Workers Office, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, and Social Security Services- Toronto, a briefing by Consul General Rea Oreta on Philippine consular and labor services, and Quebec’s settlement and immigration by RCIC Consultant Cheney Cortes De Guzman.
