18 December 2023 - Philippine Ambassador to Canada Maria Andrelita S. Austria announced the Embassy’s support for the basketball clinic and tournaments to be organized in 2024 by Ottawa-based and Filipino-led organization Family on Three (FO3) Academy. FO3 Academy aims to promote a competitive and inspiring basketball culture in Ottawa as a basketball training center for both youth and adults.

Ambassador Austria commended FO3 Academy for nurturing and promoting the love for basketball and sports among the youth in Ottawa during its first anniversary gala on 16 December 2023 in Ottawa, Canada.“ Aside from being a sport, basketball carries a cultural significance for Filipinos. It is a thread that weaves our communities together, fostering camaraderie, discipline, and a shared sense of purpose,” Ambassador Austria highlighted. 

The Philippine Embassy’s support for F03 Academy’s programs is consistent with the Philippines’ leading role in the recent adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of World Basketball Day, which will be commemorated every December 21.
